New Beds for 2 Children - A family was relocating while Mom was getting back to work. Money was tight and the children had no beds. Save The Kid Fund provided the funds to purchase new mattresses, box springs, bed frames, bedding, dressers and lights. When we found that the kitchen was lacking many items Save the Kid Fund also purchased flatware, pots, storage containers and a microwave for the family. |

Change that Diaper! - The family was expecting complications at birth and an extended hospital stay following. They decided to take a trip to visit family before the birth. The baby arrived 6 weeks ahead of schedule during the trip. Georgia was born with digestive tract organs outside her body. The expenses of having the surgery to put the organs inside the body was plenty enough to handle, but there were the additional expenses of being away from home. The family finances hard were hit hard. Georgia is fed via tube, and due to the digestive system complications, she soils 10 - 15 diapers a day. Save the Kid Fund has agreed to pay for diapers and baby wipes.
Amanda gets a ramp! - Amanda has Cerebral palsy, and there was no money left in the family budget for an access ramp. What is seen in the construction picture are volunteers, including 4 STK Board Members. Save the Kid Fund purchased the materials and with volunteer help, constructed the ramp. We are proud to say we stretch every dollar we have in order to help as many as possible with the funds we have available. As a responsible childrens charity we believe we must be good stewards of funds entrusted to us. |

Pet Assisted Therapy - Two young women had paid to have their dog attend class to prepere them to work with 3 - 5 year old children afflicted by autism. The goal of the training is to help the children develope basic language, the ability to follow directions, increase their attention span, and perform other selected functional tasks. Six months into the program (and after all the necessary training) their pet dog died of kidkey failure. The two young women were unable to fund another dog and training due to their own college bills. Save the kid has stepped in to get a new dog and the necessary training. Now the wonderful experience for both the children with autism and the young ladies can continue. Alert Dog - Young Brandon suffers from numerous seizures per day. We have purchased a dog that can sense when Brandon is about to have a seizure and alert his mother or adult. This limits the risk to Brandon so he can get the necessary attention so he will be cared for during the seizure and not stop breathing. Breathing Difficulties - At six years old this young girl suffers from a breathing disorder. The summer causes special problems due to the heat and pollen and dust in the air. Save the Kid Fund has purchased an air conditioner and a filtration system to make breathing easier during the summer months. The air filtration system will be used all year. |
Christmas Gifts -
At the Christmas season we get the opportunity to find out just how fortunate we are. This Christmas
season in conjunction with the local Salvation Army we were able to provide gifts for over 150 children.
All that the STK Board does would not be possible were it not for the employees of the Millstone Nuclear
Power Station - they are this Children's Charity.
Computer - STK purchased a computer for a young girl who's family is of limited means. This young girl lost her mother at a very early age and her father was murdered three years ago. Her grandmother is her sole remaining family member and they both live on her social security. She can now have access to the internet and additional learning experiences. Necessities - The most basic of necessities is food. A single mother with two children, one of whom is very ill came into a temporary situation where there was no food for the children. Save the Kid Fund provided certificates to them for a local grocery store to get them through the hard times. Save the Kid Fund is a charity that helps children in need, without limiting the need to any particular scope. |
